چکیده

Background Quantitative myocardial T2 is a promising technique to assess myocardial inflammation and edema (1). Recent implementations have utilized T2-prepared (T2prep) SSFP sequences to acquire a multiple T2 weighted images at different echo times, and generate T2 maps based on a 2-parameter (2P-fit) model of T2 decay (2,3). Recently, a 3-parameter fitting (3P-fit) model was found superior to the conventional 2P-fit model, as it compensates for T1 relaxation effect, and results in more accurate T2 measurements (4). In this work, we sought to characterize the 3P-fit approach in terms of precision and reproducibility and to evaluate the influence of the number of employed T2prep echo times on these two metrics.

Motion correction for free breathing quantitative myocardial t2 mapping: impact on reproducibility and spatial variability

Background Quantitative myocardial T2 mapping is a promising technique for in-vivo assessment of inflammation and edema [1]. Free breathing T2 mapping sequences increase the flexibility in the choice of the number of T2prep echoes times (TET2P), but should be combined with respiratory motion correction technique [2]. In this study, we sought to evaluate the performance of the Adaptive Registrat...

Improved quantitative myocardial T2 mapping: Impact of the fitting model.

PURPOSE To develop an improved T2 prepared (T2 prep) balanced steady-state free-precession (bSSFP) sequence and signal relaxation curve fitting method for myocardial T2 mapping. METHODS Myocardial T2 mapping is commonly performed by acquisition of multiple T2 prep bSSFP images and estimating the voxel-wise T2 values using a two-parameter fit for relaxation. However, a two-parameter fit model ...

Comparison of iron chelation effects of deferoxamine, deferasirox, and combination of deferoxamine and deferiprone on liver and cardiac T2* MRI in thalassemia maior

Background: Cardiac complications due to iron overload are the most common cause of death in patients with thalassemia major. The aim of this study was to compare iron chelation effects of deferoxamine, deferasirox, and combination of deferoxamine and deferiprone on cardiac and liver iron load measured by T2* MRI. Methods: In this study, 108 patients with thalassemia major aged over 10 years...

T2 mapping of the heart with a double-inversion radial fast spin-echo method with indirect echo compensation

BACKGROUND The abnormal signal intensity in cardiac T2-weighted images is associated with various pathologies including myocardial edema. However, the assessment of pathologies based on signal intensity is affected by the acquisition parameters and the sensitivities of the receiver coils. T2 mapping has been proposed to overcome limitations of T2-weighted imaging, but most methods are limited i...

Gradient Spin Echo (GraSE) imaging for fast myocardial T2 mapping

BACKGROUND Quantitative Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (CMR) techniques have gained high interest in CMR research. Myocardial T2 mapping is thought to be helpful in diagnosis of acute myocardial conditions associated with myocardial edema. In this study we aimed to establish a technique for myocardial T2 mapping based on gradient-spin-echo (GraSE) imaging. METHODS The local ethics committe...
